Recent Dive Trips

May was a great month for diving in Clearwater!   We started the month out with a great trip on May 2nd were we had over 40 feet of viz on Veteran's Barges and water temp at 75 degrees.  It continued to get warmer throughout the month and ended with water temps at 80 degrees!  We were able to run trips every weekend during May and viz was usually pretty good (avg. 20-25 feet).

On the Memorial day trip, divers were surprised with a trip out to the Sheridan/Blackthorn and watermelon & cupcakes. The Sheridan was a great dive that day!  It was completely covered with baitfish and schools of jacks.  In addition, it had the usual Goliath Grouper or two.  It was an amazing experience to be in the middle of the baitfish and for it to become almost dark as they circled you.

With the water warming up, more fish are out on the ledges and wrecks.  Also, things are turning more colorful with tunicates, anemones and just more coral growth.  Several Goliath Grouper have been spotted at the various dive sites with the most seen on Rube Allyn.   May was a good month for diving and looks like June is also off to a good start!

Thanks to all of those that dove with us in May!  Below are some photos from these dive trips.

Divers on Tanks-A-Lot encountered some great underwater life that included various species of grouper, grunts, hogfish, sea cucumbers, hermit crabs, turtles, barracuda, goliath grouper and many more species.   Some of our favorite dive sites included the Airplane Barge, Sheridan, Blackthorn, Rube Allyn and Turtle ledge and several other natural ledges.

Upcoming Dive Trips

June has started off as a very busy month!  Most weekend trips for June are already booked.   We have several local dive shops and clubs booking the full boat for their groups.  We will run afternoon weekend trips when reservations are enough to book an afternoon trip.

Please refer to the Calendar to see dive trips and their status.  When a dive trip is fully booked, the entry will say "Fully Booked".   Weekend trips are added to the calendar when the minimum of six divers has been met.  We can take up to 12 divers on a trip.

We are in the planning stages of organizing a "Fish Count" dive trip in July in part of the Great Annual Fish Count by REEF.  Our local fish count expert, Lillian, has volunteered to help demonstrate how to conduct a fish count.  More to come on upcoming Fish Count dive trip and details will be in the next eNewsletter!

So email or call us at (727) 798-1269 to reserve your upcoming dive trip with Tanks-A-Lot Dive Charters!
